Located in the heart of the Beltline community in downtown Calgary, BLVD offers stunning city views and access to everything you love about inner-city living. Now, let’s help you make the most of your private balcony space this season.
1. Create a Cozy Corner with Outdoor Rugs and Cushions
Start with the basics: comfort! Add a colorful or patterned outdoor rug to define your space and instantly warm up your balcony. Throw in weather-resistant cushions and floor poufs for extra seating. Layering textures creates a cozy, inviting vibe perfect for relaxing solo or with guests.
2. Add Greenery with Potted Plants and Herbs
Nothing says spring like fresh greenery. Balcony rail planters, hanging baskets, or a small vertical garden can bring life and color to your outdoor setup. Consider low-maintenance plants like succulents, lavender, or fresh herbs like basil and mint—you’ll love having them on hand for cocktails or cooking!
3. Light It Up for Evenings
Add ambiance to your outdoor space with string lights, solar lanterns, or LED candles. As the sun sets over the Calgary skyline, your balcony will glow with warmth and charm—ideal for a glass of wine and good conversation.
4. Use Multi-Functional Furniture
In a compact space, every piece counts. Consider foldable chairs, storage benches, or side tables that double as stools. These space-saving options make it easy to transform your balcony from a solo chill zone to a hosting haven in seconds.
5. Incorporate Personal Touches
Your balcony should reflect you. Add outdoor art, a mini Bluetooth speaker for music, or even a small water feature for calming vibes. Small details go a long way in turning your outdoor space into an extension of your home.

The artwork will playfully explore ideas of imagined spectacle and the desired state of “balance”, while acknowledging the area’s histories and the site’s proximity to the nearby Stampede Park and developing East Victoria Park.
Arseneault is a Calgary-based artist whose mediums include sculpture, drawing, collage, and photography-based work. Arseneault holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from ACAD (now AUArts) and a Master of Fine Arts from Edinburgh College of Art.
