Here’s Where to Find Photography Spots Near BLVD Beltline

From expertly crafted art installations and aesthetically appealing architecture to naturally breathtaking views of the city, there are plenty of popular spots to practice your photography skills in the Beltline and around Downtown Calgary. Below are five beautiful vantage points to capture your best snapshot yet.

1. Public Art Installations

The famous Wonderland sculpture, made by Spanish artist Jaume Plense, is at the base of The Bow building, just a quick 14-minute jaunt from BLVD Beltline. You will also find the enchanting Chinook Arc, an interactive and illuminated sculpture installed by Creative Machines, a few blocks away.

2. Peace Bridge

You would be hard-pressed to find a more picturesque walkway than the Peace Bridge, an iconic landmark that crosses the Bow River at Eau Claire Park. This geometric masterpiece creates a path for people to walk and cycle across the Bow River while adding a pop of colour and curb appeal to the area. The bridge will be under construction this summer for aesthetic repairs but will be accessible during work.

3. Beaulieu Gardens

Natural light is no problem at Beaulieu Gardens, one of the Beltline’s most naturally stunning open spaces. The terraced garden offers the perfect backdrop for portraits, landscape photography, and architectural shots as it wraps around the historic Lougheed House.

4. Central Memorial Park

Nestled in the heart of the Beltline, Central Memorial Park is Calgary’s oldest park and is home to the Memorial Public Library, a central library located just minutes from BLVD Beltline. No view of this park is less picture-perfect than the other, and history buffs like to pay their respects and snap photos at the multiple war memorials on site.

5. High Park

Calling all mural enthusiasts! High Park is the ultimate urban park on the rooftop of the City Centre Parkade, just a couple blocks from Stephen Avenue. BUMP Festival graffiti murals extend along the walls and basketball half-courts, creating great backdrops for your next Instagram photo.
